Your main responsibilities include:

JOB EMPLOYER
  • Work closely with the data & mapping product team to support data analysis on both real-time and geospatial datasets.
  • Support the creation of analytical reports to be used by country teams for monitoring project engagement and implementation.
  • Assist in writing documentation and forming research questions for the data science team to test.
  • Assist with product design on gigas data products.

What you need to apply… 

  • To be enrolled in a graduate degree program in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant field or have graduated within the past two years. 
  • At least one (1) year previous work experience is required.
  • Interested in Time-series data, internet measurements context or social-economic analysis.
  • Have good interpersonal skills (liaising with people of many different nationalities) and organizations skills.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and through writing, and work cooperatively in a fast paced, diverse team environment.
  • Experience with data visualizations.
  • Experience with data modelling.
  • Experience with geospatial data processing.
  • Experience with product analytics.
  • Technical experience in:
    • Languages: python, Jupyter Notebooks, R,
    • Cloud services: Azure, AWS, etc
    • Geospatial DBs, libraries and data structures
    • Data visualization libraries
    • Sql and NoSQL database systems
  • Experience with git, pull requests.

Language:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or any other UN languages (French, Russian, Arabic, Chinese) is considered an asset.

Conditions:

  • Age: Interns must be at least 18 years.
  • Have good academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g., father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office.
  • Have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to.
  • Individuals must have proof of medical insurance covering the time and location of their internship.
  • This internship expects a full-time commitment. 
  • Individuals are expected to provide their own laptop. 

Payment:

The eligible intern will receive a monthly stipend as a contribution towards their living expenses. The selected candidate is expected to work remotely if located outside Barcelona.

Employment:

There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship
