Planting, harvesting, sorting, and packing of crops is assisted by harvesting laborers and allied workers. They assist in crop planting, spraying, thinning, irrigation, and soil preparation. They work on fields producing speciality crops, fruits, and vegetables.

Madec Australia Griffith – Harvesters Of Apples And Irrigation Workers Job duties
- Prepare and irrigate soil
- Plant, fertilize, thin and harvest crops
- Pick row and orchard crops
- Sort, weigh and pack fruit and vegetables at the farm
- Load, unload and transfer crates, supplies, farm produce and products for transport
- Clean up racks, trays, and harvest bins and general clean up of growing, producing and packing areas
- Assist with general farm maintenance and maintenance of equipment and tools
- May assist in preparing garden beds for planting
- May write daily progress reports of inventory harvested.
Job description
A local farm is seeking the services of an apple irrigation worker to work in the Riverina area. This work is available for the 2023/2024 season and will involve a range of duties, work will be predominantly assisting with irrigation repairs, assisting with netting and moving into the harvest season assisting with picking. Those who have experience with picking, supervising teams and tractor experience will be preferred. Applicants must be available to work 5-6 days per week depending on weather conditions.
Work will commence immediately, however that may be subject to change depending on weather conditions.
This work is paid under the Horticulture Award 2020. This work is suitable for people on working holiday visas wanting second year extensions (88 days regional work).

Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
