1. CHIEF TECHNICIAN (2 POSTS)
POST A: FACULTY OF APPLIED SCIENCE
POST B: FACULTY OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Applicants must be holders of a First Degree in Computer Science/Electronic/Information Technology
or equivalent plus at least 5 years post qualification experience OR a Masters Degree in Computer
Science/Electronic/Information Technology or equivalent plus at least 2 years post qualification
experience.
Job vacancies
The duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Providing first-line Information Technology related support to staff members and students in the Faculty.
- Assisting in the smooth running of the Local Area Network by configuring the network points, providing cabling solutions as needed, and troubleshooting problems.
- Maintaining inventory and updating software and computer hardware.
- Assisting students, using hardware/software, to complete assignments in a computer laboratory setting.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing basic problems with computer equipment.
- Enforcing procedures for the use of computer laboratory and the use of equipment, supplies software, and hardware.
- Repairing and maintaining computer equipment in the Faculty.
- Ensuring the security and safety of Laboratory Assets.
- Maintaining and controlling the inventory of Faculty Office, assets, and consumables and setting up and installing equipment and software in Laboratories and offices within the
- Faculty.
Good technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and administrative skills are essential. Good interpersonal communication and student service skills are required.
2. TECHNICIAN/SENIOR TECHNICIAN (1 POST)
Faculty of Applied Science
Applicants must have a Higher National Diploma in Information Technology/Computer Studies or
equivalent and three yearsβ post-qualification experience; or a Degree in Information
Technology/Computer Science/Informatics or equivalent and one year post-qualification experience.
Applicants must have experience in both hardware and software maintenance as well as possess
intimate knowledge of office software applications and networking. Industrial certification in
software development and network administration shall be an added advantage.
For appointment to the Senior Technician grade, applicants must have a Degree in Information
Technology/Computer Science/Electronics or equivalent and at least three yearsβ post-qualification
experience
3. TECHNICIAN/SENIOR TECHNICIAN (1 POST)
Department of Construction Economics and Management
Applicants must have at least a Diploma in Quantity Surveying and have competency in Microsoft
Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Publisher with knowledge of Computer Programmes such as WinQS,
Microsoft Project or any other relevant Computer programme.
For appointment to the Senior Technician grade, applicants must have a Degree in Quantity Surveying
and at least three years of post-qualification experience.
4. TECHNICIAN/SENIOR TECHNICIAN (3 POSTS)
Department of Applied Biology and Biochemistry
Applicants should be holders of a National Diploma in Applied Biological Technology and have
3 years post-qualification experience or holders of a Degree in Applied Biology and Biochemistry and
have at least one year of industrial work experience. Supervisory experience will be an added advantage.
The candidate will be expected to supervise laboratory and workshop activities, prepare equipment or
chemicals for practicals and research work, supervise and train Technical Assistants, calibrate and
standardize equipment or apparatus, manage inventory of consumables and advising on re-order levels
and procuring chemicals and equipment for the department.
For appointment to the Senior Technician grade, applicants must have a Degree in Applied Biology
and Biochemistry and at least three yearsβ post-qualification experience.
5. TECHNICIAN/SENIOR TECHNICIAN (1 POST)
Department of Sports Science and Coaching
The applicant must hold a BSc Hons Degree in Sports Science and Coaching having passed with a
class 2.1 or better. Having other qualifications in Safety and Health, coach education qualifications in specific sports codes, adapted sport coaching, strength and conditioning planning and implementation will be an added advantage.
The applicant must be able to service technical requirements in the Department of Sports Science
and Coaching by ensuring the setting up of equipment for theoretical, practical lectures as well as
research that the academic staff in the department may carry out. The incumbent must be able to
measure and test utilising the different equipment in the department and other equipment that the department may hire.
Field-based methods of measurement must also be part of what this candidate is familiar with. The applicant must be computer literate and be able to utilise computer software in the department and he/she must be able to assist students when they require technical assistance. The equipment in the department shall be ordered and accounted for by the technician at all times.
6. CHIEF NURSING OFFICER (1 POST)
Department of Community Medicine
The applicant must have an undergraduate degree in Nursing plus at least 5 yearsβ experience in
nursing. Masters or PhD qualification will be an added advantage. Experience and clinical interest in
Teaching and Research will also be an added advantage.
